Campus Society & Barclays Save Students Money
The dreaded expense of university coursebooks. Few students get a warm-fuzzy buzz spending cash on study necessities – course books are certainly not as exciting as a fresh new outfit for a student club night. That’s where we come in.
As a brand for students, we are consistently focused on developing new ways to make student life easier, and, with a record-breaking number of undergraduate students starting university this year, we are on a mission to make those purse strings looser.
Knowing that students spend, on average, a huge £240 a year on course books, we have teamed up with Barclays to run a pilot program; we’re giving students three free textbooks on Campus Books, our online e-book service, as an added incentive for them to sign up for a Barclays’ Student Additions Account.
Campus Books is our online e-book service which is consistently increasing users in the student community. Not only will freshers across the pilot universities be able to save money, but we have also developed a range of study smart features on Campus Books to make library sessions easier.
What is most exciting for us so far, though, is the positive feedback and interest in the offer, both from our outbound communications and on-campus at Warwick and Leeds, which we visited over Freshers’ Week. Students loved that they could not only save money but also take advantage of the collaboration tools and the ability to access their books on any device, any time. They love that they can save both money and time to enjoy the things that really matter to them (e.g. jäger bombs).
Campus Society offers free e-book service for students
- Students spend £240 a year on textbooks
- 3000 e-textbooks up for grabs for first year students
London, 17th October 2018: Campus
Society, the popular student networking site, today announces it has partnered
with Barclays to give away 1000 free subscriptions to its digital textbook
service, Campus Books. The offer is available to first year students in Leeds,
Warwick, Durham, Manchester, Cambridge, Oxford, Lancaster, Exeter and Plymouth
who open, or already have, a Student Additions Account with Barclays.
The limited offer is intended to help students cover the essential cost of course books, as research reveals students spend, on average, £240 per year on books. Campus Books lets students access either three core textbooks for free; or two core textbooks for free and 12 months access to a package of over 2,000 books. Students need to open a Student Additions Account with Barclays by 31st October to claim a voucher for their free subscription.
Pip Landers-Letts, Head of Student Accounts said, “Starting university is an incredibly exciting time for students, but we know the cost of buying books on top of other living expenses can put a significant strain on students’ first-term budgets. We want to support students throughout their time at university and help them focus on their studies rather than worrying about the cost of buying books.”
Rashid Ajami, Founder of Connectt and Campus Society, said, “At a time when student purse strings are tighter than ever, this fantastic offer with Barclays will go a long way in helping freshers make the most of their first year at university. Through this partnership, Barclays has proven just how forward-thinking it is as a business with a strong commitment to social purpose. We look forward to welcoming more students to the Campus Books platform.”
Campus Society is owned by social networking solutions business, Connectt, and it is the largest and fastest growing online community platform for students to discover, collaborate and connect on shared interests.
