The Students’ Union has only gone and got hold of a vintage Big Red Bus.Our guided bus tour offers the perfect introduction to Cardiff.Cruise by all the major Cardiff landmarks in this hour long bus tour to Cardiff Bay and back, all in spectacular vintage style.This is an absolute must do this Freshers Week!Come with us and explore one of Cardiff’s top tourist destinations & Europe’s largest waterfront development. Filled with a variety of attractions for everyone, this is a day trip not to be missed.Choose from one of three trips:Spend a day away from city life and visit one of South Wales’ most famous beaches. Barry Island is a fantastic seaside day out made familiar to most by the hit TV show Gavin and Stacey.Boasting a stunning beach, seaside promenade, amusements, shops and funfair rides – this is the perfect flatmate bonding day out! This day out is not to be missed!All you will need is beach appropriate clothing and any money you may want for rides, fish & chips or ice creams!An amazing day out with the Students’ Union. Come and hop onto our vintage Big Red Bus and we will take you along to one of the cultural highlights of South Wales.With plenty of original buildings from different historical periods to walk round and workshops and craftsmen on site this visit is sure to be a fun day out during the hectic schedules you may have during Freshers’. Bring your friends, pack a picnic and spend the day outside indulging in everything St Fagans has to offer.This event is free however anything you spend within St Fagans isn’t included in this deal .. you will still have to pay for anything you buy in the gift shop etc!Come with us on our Big Red Bus to visit this beautiful fabled home of a very wealthy man here in Cardiff. There are dazzling ceilings, over the top furnishings and lots of beautiful architecture to peruse in your own time.We will be dropping you off and picking you up from the Castle itself so feel free to do whatever you would like in the time you are there. Spread over two campuses, this tour explores the Cathays Park Campus starting with the Students’ Union and the University’s Grade 2 listed Main Building designed by William Douglas Caroe, where the University teaches Chemistry, Bioscience and Earth Sciences. The tour will then take you through the central Alexandra War Memorial Gardens towards the Grade 1 Glamorgan Building (Social Sciences, City Regional Planning) and the Grade 2 Bute Building (Architecture and Journalism).Most students will only ever experience of a handful of time-tabled venues but this tour will aim to bring the University alive for students, showing you the multitude of hidden libraries, cafes, and quiet revision spots you’ll be really grateful to know about one day very soon. For any of our Welsh students, this is a chance to learn how to make a classic, or show everyone how it’s done!Pop along between 11:00-14:00 and spend some time cooking (and eating!) – all ingredients will be provided!Come and learn a spot of the Welsh language with us now that you are going to be living here for the next few years!Running four times throughout Freshers, some of our excellent volunteers will be running you through some basic welsh sayings and words. From ‘Croeso’ to ‘Bore da’ after this session you will be ready to speak to any Welsh speaker you cross paths with!This is a great event for any of you that want to learn a bit more about the country you are now living in!Have an adventure at the castle with us!Of all the castles in the UK, Cardiff Castle is one of the most amazing and richly complex sites and we are taking you there!With a day to explore the site who knows what you could get up to!The Castle offers a variety of tours looking at sites from the house to the wartime shelters so why not come with us and see this historic attraction for yourself!Come and explore the magnificent features that make the Principality Stadium one of the most impressive icons of modern Wales.Join the experienced tour guides and visit the Press Conference Suite where the worlds of rugby and journalism meet. Experience the build-up before the match in the Dragon’s Lair, Wales’ team dressing room.Hear the roar of 74,500 fans as you walk down the players’ tunnel towards the hallowed turf.Learn about the only palletised pitch system and fully retractable roof in the UK, which allows the entire playing surface to be removed to create one of the world’s largest indoor arenas.Discover art, natural history and geology with a dedicated tour of Cardiff’s National Museum.With a busy programme of exhibitions and events, they have something to amaze everyone, whatever your interest!If you’ve just moved to Cardiff, this is one not to miss!Admission to the tour will be free so no need to worry about bringing any loose change!
