Let's talk about the benefits of blogging...
I’m sure that at some point or another you've heard of blogging. I have been working on my little online space for the past four years, and it has given me so many amazing opportunities, so I thought that I would share some of them with you in the hope that it will inspire you to write too.
Over the past few years, I have travelled across the country to a variety of blogging events, in which I have met people that I would have otherwise never had the chance to meet. Granted I don’t see them very often, but sometimes it’s just reassuring knowing that you have friends that will happily receive a 2 am email (regardless of the topic) no matter where they are. Plus, you automatically have something in common: blogging!
Both a blessing and a curse, writing online gives you the opportunity to be somebody that you’re not. I have always struggled with the ability to talk to strangers and speak publicly, but since writing my blog, I have found that I adopt the same oozing confidence in real life - in terms of uni projects and dissertation prep, this has been a great help. If you struggle with speaking your mind, creating a blog is a great way to express your thoughts and feelings without having to talk to others directly.
Just like any form of therapeutic activity (exercise, colouring etc.) writing can help to combat stress and release any feelings that have built up inside. Uni can be a very stressful place to be, so anything to balance this out is A-OK.
Although my course isn't directly related to the content that I choose to blog about, I have found that through blogging I have been given the opportunity to work with some pretty great companies. In turn, I have built up a fairly substantial contact list, which I am hoping will help me in the very near future.
This should demonstrate some of the amazing benefits that blogging can bring. If you have a blog, please leave the link in the comments, and if not - get blogging!
