Here's why you should choose to study in Manchester
Manchester is probably, and I'm not biased (too much), the best city for university students. I fell in love with the city the first time I visited it, almost three years ago at an open day. Manchester is buzzing with activity every hour of the day, with top quality restaurants, swanky bars and chill cafes, and incredible universities and friendly people roaming the streets. Outside of the city, there's scenery that'll please both the city lovers and people like myself who want to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy walks in the beautiful parks and quiet housing areas.
If you are worried about not being able to cope with living in such a big city like I was as a fresher, there's honestly nothing to worry about. If city life is not your thing, opt to live outside central Manchester in the likes of Fallowfield and Didsbury. Or, if you feel you would like to have the best of both worlds, one of the best places to live is in the Whitworth Park area.
Regarding going out as a fresher, Manchester is definitely the place to be! There are events, clubs and pubs to suit everyone, from those who love drum and bass clubs to the students who fancy a live acoustic set at one of the many free-entry bars in the Northern Quarter.
I attend the University of Manchester, and it was the best decision I have made in my life so far. The university is incredible and has such a rich learning environment that I am rarely bored with my classes and lectures. If you're like me and find it difficult to concentrate while studying, the university provides amazing programs and training sessions on how to study efficiently and effectively. They also grant all of their students 24-hour access to the Learning Commons on campus grounds and 16-hour access to the Main Library.
When thinking about moving to a new city for university, Manchester is certainly not to be overlooked. It's sometimes difficult to put into words how positively the city has impacted my life. You can never be bored here, and if you find yourself growing so, then you really aren't experiencing Manchester in the way it should be: to the fullest.
